When we designed our pre-workout formula – PULSE – we wanted to create the most effective pre-workout available but it had to meet certain criteria – it had to be research backed – this means in both ingredients and dosing and we had to be able to present the facts on why it’s effective. Legion believes in research proven supplements –we use science, not hype or BS, to back our products.
To achieve this, we spent a lot of time in the research to be sure we had the most effective, safe, research-proven ingredients in PULSE – at proven clinical dosages.
Caffeine is an extremely popular, effective stimulant that increases energy, alertness, muscular endurance and strength. We’ve chosen to include a dosage of 350 mg; this amount falls within the proven range of 3 to 6 mg per kg of bodyweight and is based on the fact that most adult males weigh, on average, about 180 lbs.
Theanine is an amino acid that works synergistically with caffeine to promote numerous cognitive functions. Research indicates that this combination helps reduce the negative effects of physical and mental stress, increases focus, alertness, concentration and mood, and increases nitric oxide levels. The proven dosage level of theanine is between 100 to 250 mg, PULSE contains a full 350 mg for optimal effect.
Beta-alanine has been proven to be an effective and popular ingredient for some time. It’s mechanism of action is indirect as it increases carnosine levels in the body which in turn reduces the buildup of lactic acid, promotes increased training endurance and work output. It’s also known for the mild, harmless effect of producing a tingling sensation that soon passes after taking it. Research indicates an effective dosage of 2.6 to 6.4 grams. PULSE again chooses a middle of the road dosing of 4.8 grams per serving.
Citrulline malate combines the amino acid citrulline with malic acid. We’ve used this compound instead of the standard L-arginine due to the fact it is more completely absorbed and increases nitric oxide production more effectively. This combination has been research proven to increase muscular endurance, reduce post workout soreness, and increase N.O. levels in the body. Our dose of 8 grams falls on the high end of the proven range of 4 to 10 grams.
Ornithine is one of three amino acids – the other two being arginine and citrulline – that are involved in the metabolic process referred to as the urea cycle. The urea cycle is the process of converting ammonia into urea – which is less toxic - and then eliminating it from the body. The research proven benefits of Ornithine are to: decrease fatigue, promote fat oxidation (the use of fat for energy instead of glycogen) and promote increased GH levels when combined with arginine. PULSE contains the clinical maximum dose of 2.2 grams.
Betaine, also called TMG or trimethylglycine, is actually isolated from beets – hence the name - and is made from the combination of the amino acid glycine and three methyl groups that are bound to it. Research indicates that betaine, at dosages of 1.25 to 2.5 grams, enhances muscular endurance, improves strength and promotes increased levels of GH. PULSE uses the full clinical dose of 2.5 grams per serving.
PULSE is way beyond other pre-workouts because we use real research proven dosing and ingredients – we left the hype out! We also left out artificial sweeteners and fillers! We naturally sweeten PULSE with Stevia, a natural herbal extract that’s twice as sweet as sugar on a per serving basis. We’ve done this because research indicates most artificial sweeteners may pose a health risk and Legion Supplements has chosen not to risk the safety of our customers.
We have gone to great lengths to insure PULSE tastes amazing, mixes easily, dissolves completely and is easy on your digestive system. You won’t find any artificial dyes in any supplement we make. The fact is there are quite a few pre-workouts that do use artificial dyes, such as FD&C Yellow #5, FD&C Blue #1 and FD&C Red No. 40 – the safety of these dyes is questionable at best. Also, Legion does not use “filler” ingredients in any product we make and PULSE is no exception. You will find that PULSE isn’t loaded with sugar for quick energy, we use the least amount of maltodextrin possible to help remove the bitter taste that some amino acids have – we use just 2 grams while many pre-workouts use 20 grams –that’s a very big difference!
The standard we hold ourselves to is a simple one: that every single active ingredient we use in every LEGION supplement must be fully supported by published research and must be used at, or higher than, research level dosages. When you begin to look closely at the numbers, it becomes clear that just 1 scoop of PULSE (1 serving = 2 scoops) contains almost twice as much active ingredients as our competition – and a full serving provides at least research level dosing and these amounts are considerably higher than the competition. It’s common advertising hype to claim to be the best but we feel we can back that claim with real research proven numbers.
Compare PULSE and you will quickly see the difference. Try PULSE, and you will quickly feel the difference! This is what a pre-workout is supposed to feel like!
