Ingredient Breakdown
L-Citrulline Malate 2:1 - 6g
This ingredient is a 50/50 blend of citrulline and malate. Citrulline stimulates the production of nitric oxide which promotes great pumps. It’s actually an amino acid that converts into arginine once in the body. The advantage of citrulline over arginine is that it’s much better absorbed. This means that citrulline does a better job of acting like arginine than arginine. Malate, also known as malic acid, is involved in ATP production. This complex supports pumps and training endurance. (1, 2)
Beta-Alanine - 1.6g
Beta-alanine blocks the buildup of lactic acid which delays fatigue. This in turn increases endurance. It works indirectly by converting into carnosine in the body. Carnosine is the actual compound that promotes these effects. Alani Nu Pre-Workout has dosed beta-alanine at 1.6g which is about 50% of the clinical dose. Why did we do that? Simple - beta-alanine causes an unpleasant tingling and itching effect. In fact, even though it’s a harmless, temporary effect, many people just don't like it. By dosing it at 1.6g, these undesirable effects are dramatically reduced yet you still experience all the benefits. (3)
L-Tyrosine - 500mg
This is an amino acid that has a key role in the manufacture of the neurotransmitters dopamine and norepinephrine. These two compounds elevate focus and enhance mood, while at the same time easing anxiety. (4)
Caffeine (From Coffea arabica) - 200mg
Of course, caffeine is the most popular energy enhancer in the world. Who doesn’t enjoy a hot cup of coffee? Alani Nu Pre-Workout uses caffeine from the Coffea arabica plant. It’s dosed moderately to avoid jitters and that dreaded mid-workout crash. (5)
L-Theanine - 200mg
Theanine is a mild stimulant that also eases anxiety and stress. It relaxes your mind without making you feel drowsy. It’s the perfect complement to caffeine because it helps ease the effects of caffeine, avoiding a crash or jitters.
