Supplement Spotlight: Hi-Tech Pharma Somatomax®

hi tech somatomax

Here’s a product that, in many ways, goes back to the days of “GH Boosters”. Back when they were a thing, they were always a blend of Arginine and Ornithine. And they were always tablets. Few companies made a powder and virtually everybody made basically the same formula. Innovation? Not in this case. Fast forward to today and Hi-Tech Pharma Somatomax®. In this edition of Supplement Spotlight, we will take a detailed look at this innovative powdered formula. Let’s get started!

What Is Hi-Tech Somatomax®

Somatomax® is a sleep aid combined with amino acids that stimulate growth hormone release. It’s also a neuro enhancer. That means if used in lesser amounts, it can be used as a daytime “feel-good” supplement. It does this by stimulating neurotransmitter release. Somatomax® is available only as a powder, and it comes in 6 delicious flavors.

Somatomax® Benefits

Let’s look at the benefits:

  • Stimulates Growth Hormone Release
  • Promotes A “Feel-Good” Effect
  • Enhances Your Sense Of Well-Being
  • Elevates Mood
  • Promotes A Good Night’s Sleep
  • Enhanced Sexual Experience
  • Increases Lean Muscle Mass
  • Helps Reduce Fat

What Is Growth Hormone

Before we go any further, let’s define what growth hormone (or, GH) is. First, it’s a natural hormone in the human body. GH is a protein hormone that is made up of 191 amino acids. Somatotropic cells in the anterior pituitary gland produce and secrete GH.

GH production is controlled by various feedback mechanisms. These mechanisms respond to  nutrition, sleep, exercise, stress, and growth hormone itself. GH releases in response to these factors, and secrets in a pulsating manner that varies hourly.

Generally speaking, GH secretes every 3-5 hours. Up to 70% is secreted at night from about 11 pm to about 2 am. The chief function of growth hormone is to stimulate overall growth and development. This includes muscle growth and bone development. In addition, growth hormone promotes fat loss as well as skin health. Finally, it’s involved in macronutrient metabolism. (1,2 3)

What Is The Mechanism Of Action Of GH?

GH stimulates growth directly by attaching to target cells. Also, GH stimulates growth indirectly through the liver. It binds to receptors on the surface of the liver. This, in turn, stimulates them to release IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor-1, also known as somatomedin).

IGF-1 is a protein hormone with a structure that is similar to insulin. IGF-1 increases the rate of amino acid uptake by muscle fibers and other target cells. These effects happen quickly after GH is released. Also, they are more pronounced after a meal. That’s because the bloodstream has higher levels of glucose and amino acids. In response to this, GH promotes growth via IGF-1 and by using available nutrients (4)

Let’s Look At The Ingredients

Proprietary Blend – 14 g

4-amino-3-Phenylbutric Acid

This ingredient may be more commonly known as Phenibut. Since this is a prop blend, and the ingredients are listed by highest to lowest content, Phenibut is the strongest ingredient in Somatomax®. Of course, since Hi-tech uses a prop blend, we don’t know what the exact dose is. Phenibut combats anxiety, improves cognitive enhancement, and aids sleep. (5)

Gamma Amino Butyric Acid

GABA is an amino acid produced in the brain that functions as a neurotransmitter. It helps slow brain activity, producing a calming effect in the brain. (6)

Mucuna Pruriens Extract (standardized to 20% L-Dopa)

This is an Ayurvedic herb that’s a natural source of L-Dopa, a precursor to dopamine. That is a neurotransmitter involved in the release of GH. You will also see this ingredient in many testosterone boosters because it stimulates sex drive. (7, 8)

L-Arginine HCL

As noted, before Arginine became known as a nitric oxide booster, it was often combined with Ornithine and sold as a GH booster. However, Arginine by itself is a potent GH releaser. (9)

L-Tyrosine

This amino acid is commonly used for cognitive enhancement. It’s also a precursor for dopamine, adrenaline, norepinephrine, and serotonin, all important neurotransmitters. These neurotransmitters support cognitive function, help control stress, and in the case of serotonin, calm the mind. (10)

L-Phenylalanine

This is a non-essential amino acid that’s been clinically used as an antidepressant. It’s also used by the body in the production of Tyrosine and the neurotransmitters dopamine, adrenaline, and norepinephrine. (11)

Vitamin B-6 – 10mg

This is one of the water-soluble B-complex vitamins. As a complex, the B’s combat stress, lower anxiety, and help convert food into cellular energy. As an individual vitamin, B6 fights mental fatigue, enhances mood, and plays a role in serotonin production. While serotonin is a relaxant, it also enhances mood.

How Do I Use Hi-Tech Somatomax?
