Test Drive: Raw Nutrition Pump2!

RAW Pump2

Welcome to a new Series – Test Drive! This Series details my personal experience with and review of popular supplements. I am starting with Raw Nutrition Pump2 because I believe glycerol is (or should be) the next big thing in the supplement industry. I haven’t been as impressed with a supplement since the original creatine monohydrate, EAS Phosphagen, was released. With that said, let’s jump right in and check out Raw Nutrition Pump2!

What Is Raw Nutrition Pump2?

Raw Nutrition Pump2 is an unflavored powdered supplement featuring a trademarked version of glycerol. So what is glycerol? It is a sugar alcohol that functions as the “backbone” of triglycerides. It’s also an osmolyte. This means it increases the total water volume in the body. Also, the body can use it as an energy substrate and may promote training energy when consumed in large amounts. What Are The Ingredients?

Pump2 contains just one ingredient:

GlycerSize™ (65% Glycerol Powder) – 6 Grams

Formerly known as GlycerPump™, the branded ingredient GlycerSize™ is a stable type of glycerol powder. The transporter for this form of glycerol is silicon dioxide. What sets GlycerSize™ apart is the method of spray-drying. This approach creates stability with no clumping.

What Are The Claims?

Glycerol has three important benefits:

  • Peak Muscle Fullness (or, Water-Based Pumps)
  • Hydrates Muscle Cells
  • Improves Endurance

As a supplement, glycerol absorbs rapidly in the body and is distributed among the body’s fluid compartments. Then it’s metabolized by the kidneys and liver. If you consume glycerol with a lot of water, your body will retain that fluid. This means greater cell volume or water-based pumps. Plus, this creates a state of “hyperhydration” which benefits bodybuilders and athletes, especially endurance athletes. (3)

How I Used Raw Nutrition Pump2

I took Raw Nutrition Pump2 as directed – one scoop with a lot of water. I mixed it into my pre-workout (at the time, I was using 5% Nutrition 5150). Pump2 mixes easily and has no flavor. Since glycerol is an osmolyte, I also made sure to drink plenty of water during the hours around my workouts.

I stacked Raw Nutrition Pump2 with 5150 and whey protein. You could easily add creatine, EAA/BCAAs (such as 5% Nutrition All Day You May), any pre-workout, and L-Glutamine. It should be noted that you can consume more than the 6 grams offered here. Some companies carry products with a glycerol content of 20 grams. That said, I found 6 grams worked just fine.

The Workout

At this time, I was doing a full-body routine that looked like this:

  1. Bench Press
  2. Overhead Press
  3. Squats
  4. Bent Rows
  5. Lat Pulldowns
  6. Close Grip Bench Press
  7. Low Cable EZ Curls
  8. Ab Wheel

After warmups, I went right into my working sets. I performed 2-3 sets per exercise and treated the entire workout (are you ready?) as one long set. That’s right, the only rest in between sets and exercises was to drink water, change weights, or change exercises. Needless to say, it’s a quick workout. Finally, I used a weight that normally would allow me to get 6 reps, and my reps were performed explosive up, slow down with a pause at the fully stretched position. I take every working set to momentary failure. ( I believe true failure is far more intense than many people think).

The Results

The endurance was nothing short of amazing! I found I was doubling my reps,( or close to it). This was the case over quite a few workouts and several containers of Raw Nutrition Pump2. I also was able to get some amazing pumps. To say I was blown away is an understatement.

Do I Recommend Raw Nutrition Pump2?

The answer is an emphatic YES!!! I definitely recommend Raw Nutrition Pump2, especially if your goal is more size and strength. If you want to dramatically improve your workouts, get a container of Raw Nutrition Pump2 and see if it works for you! ( I should note that the results I experienced are not guaranteed, as everybody is different. You may see results that are similar, better, or not as good as mine).
