Cyclosome Delivery
Let’s define Cyclosome Delivery. It’s a pharmaceutical delivery method that “traps” compounds in a water soluble-cyclodextrin complex in liposomes. In other words, the active ingredients of a supplement are encased in lipid and water-soluble coating. While Hi-Tech does not reveal a lot of the specifics, here’s the bottom line. Interestingly, the Hi-Tech system was inspired by a company called Indena. They are an R&D and manufacturing company that manufactures botanical ingredients. These compounds are then used by pharmaceutical and supplement companies. They developed Phytosome®. This is their proprietary system, and it’s the original. Hi-Tech And Blackstone Labs Liposomal Delivery System
Hi-Tech’s delivery technology plays a major role in many of their supplements, especially prohormones. It also happens that Blackstone Labs uses a very similar technology for their prohormones. Did they just copy Hi-Tech? There’s more to it than that. As some of you may know, Hi-Tech’s CEO, Jared Wheat, has a major share in Blackstone, and Blackstone has its own version of Cyclosome Technology called Liposomal Delivery technology.
Hi-Tech’s system is the template for the Liposomal Delivery System. Whether or not Blackstone came up with it before Jared Wheat acquired a majority ownership, or if he brought a version of his Cyclosome Technology to Blackstone, is speculation.
The Hi-Tech Family Of Companies
Now, before we go any further, let’s clear something up. Hi-Tech owns quite a few supplement companies. You know the names: APS, BPI Sports, LG Sciences, Top Secret Nutrition, there’s 12 in all. But you won’t find Blackstone Labs listed in their brand family. It’s still a separate company even though Jared Wheat has a two-thirds share.
However, what’s interesting about Hi-Tech acquisitions is LG Sciences. This happened in 2015. You have to understand that Hi-Tech is a contract manufacturer, they not only manufacture their complete line up of brands and products, they manufacture other brands as well.
At the time, LG Sciences was known for innovation by bringing many new ingredients to the market. Also, this acquisition increased the production capabilities of Hi-Tech. This in fact played a big role in the utilization of both delivery systems. (3)
Cyclosome Delivery And Liposomal Delivery
Fast forward to the Liposomal System. It works much the same way as the Cyclosome system. There’s a water-soluble and fat-soluble coating of a supplement. This allows it to bypass the liver and go into the bloodstream. The idea is to completely avoid passing through the liver. Other products might make up to three passes before making it to the bloodstream. This means that tablets and capsules without this special delivery system end up being minimally absorbed. Blackstone Labs claims that without the Liposomal delivery system, the absorption of any product is approximately 33%.
