What Is Alpha Lion SuperHuman Extreme?

Alpha Lion SuperHuman Extreme is the top of the line pre-workout for this very impressive company. It’s a potent formula targeting energy, focus, pumps, endurance, and performance. Better still, it’s a 1-scoop formula with 370 mg total caffeine per scoop – none of this “2 scoops to get the full dosage” stuff.

Let’s Look At The Ingredients!

Servings Per Container: 21 / Serving Size – 1 Scoop

SUPERHUMAN PUMP & ABSORPTION MATRIX

L-Citrulline – 4000mg

For some users, the fact that this is a 1-scoop only Pre (due to the high caffeine and overall stim content per single scoop) may make it a little under-dosed in the pump department. After all, 8-10 grams has become the standard, and this is the main nitric oxide booster in SuperHuman Extreme. To that end, I will offer a solution for more pumps later in this article. (1)

What Does Citrulline Do?

The powerful nitric oxide booster L-Citrulline is technically a non-essential amino acid. That means it’s made by the body. Taken as a supplement, once in the body it converts to arginine, which stimulates nitric oxide production for greater pumps. So why not just take arginine instead?

The answer is pretty straight-forward – arginine as a supplement does not digest and absorb as well as citrulline, which bypasses digestion and goes right to the bloodstream. The bottom line is that citrulline does a better job of acting like arginine than arginine does. (2)

L-Taurine – 1000mg

This is a type of amino acid that is highly concentrated in your muscles, brain, eyes, and heart. It has several benefits, such as regulating minerals and supporting the central nervous system. But for lifters the primary benefit is that taurine is an osmolyte that increases cell volume by pulling water into the muscle cells, causing them to swell (water-based pumps). (3, 4)

S7 – 50mg

Green Coffee Bean Extract, Green Tea Extract, Turmeric Extract, Broccoli, Kale, Tart Cherry

This is one of several patented ingredients in SuperHuman Extreme. It’s a blend of 7 natural ingredients that work synergistically to stimulate your body’s nitric oxide production for huge pumps.

Additionally, greater blood flow means nutrients and oxygen are carried to your muscles faster. Oxygen improves performance and rapid nutrient delivery includes all the ingredients in your pre-workout stack, meaning these ingredients are used more efficiently. Finally, increased blood flow removes waste products quickly. (5)

Black Pepper Extract – 10mg

This is an ingredient you will find in quite a few pre-workouts and other sports nutrition products. That’s because it’s an absorption enhancer. Black Pepper Extract will enhance the absorption of any nutrients it is blended with, and it goes without saying – absorption is everything.

SuperHuman Performance Matrix

Beta Alanine – 3200mg

Beta-alanine is popular as a fatigue buffer, which means it can extend your reps and sets. The thing is, it does this indirectly by increasing the levels of carnosine in your body. That’s what is actually buffering lactic acid.

The Tingle and Flushing Effect

Beta Alanine is also notorious for causing a brief and harmless tingling effect. However, this effect seriously bothers some lifters. It’s at the clinical dose in SuperHuman Extreme. To help offset the tingling, I suggest drinking 1-2 glasses of water, which helps dissipate the effect. (6)

Betaine Anhydrous – 2500mg

Betaine consists of the amino acid glycine with three methyl groups attached. As a supplement it’s become a common pre-workout ingredient. In addition, it has frequently been compared to creatine. Like taurine, betaine is mainly an osmolyte. That makes two ingredients that promote water-based pumps, and SuperHuman Extreme contains two nitric oxide boosters. Betaine is also believed to improve strength and power, similar to creatine. (7, 8)

SUPERHUMAN EXTREME ENERGY & FOCUS MATRIX

L-Tyrosine – 1000mg

Tyrosine is an amino acid that plays an important part in the manufacture of two neurotransmitters: dopamine and norepinephrine, which elevate focus and enhance mood. These two neurotransmitters also enhance mental performance when the user is under stress. (9)

SXT™ Energy System – 370mg

Caffeine Anhydrous, zumXR® Extended-Release Caffeine, zumXR® Delayed-Release Caffeine

SuperHuman Extreme provides 370 mg total caffeine from a caffeine blend. That’s per one scoop. Here’s a breakdown of this interesting caffeine blend.

First up is caffeine anhydrous, the most common form of caffeine in pre-workout formulas. This is  caffeine that has had all the moisture removed, thereby resulting in a more concentrated caffeine. The two patented zumXR® caffeines consist of an extended release version and a longer lasting version of caffeine. The extended release breaks down slowly over time, helping to avoid jitters or a crash. The longer lasting version stays in your system longer meaning you can work out longer with no mid-workout let down. (10)

SaintEnergy Nu™ Extract – 400mg

The caffeine blend above is not the only stimulant in SuperHuman Extreme. SaintEnergy Nu is a caffeine-free ingredient that has caffeine-like benefits. These include non-jitter energy and reduced feelings of fatigue. This ingredient also increases endurance by supporting ATP production, which improves performance. Plus, it helps burn excess body fat by increasing your metabolic rate, and finally it acts as an effective antioxidant. (11)

Dynamine® Methylliberine – 100mg

Here’s another stim, and this one acts as a fast-acting, natural neuromodulator that increases energy, improves mental alertness, enhances focus, and elevates mental clarity for optimal mental and physical performance. (12)

Huperzia serrata Extract (Standardized to 1% Huperzine A – 100mcg/200mcg) – 20mg

Huperzine A is an alkaloid that is isolated from the toothed clubmoss plant. This plant is from the species Huperzia serrata and it has a long history of use in traditional Chinese herbal medicine. (13)

Huperzine A has numerous benefits, such as improving memory and learning. It performs these functions by blocking the enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine, which is commonly called the “learning neurotransmitter.” In addition, it functions as a neuroprotectant.

Finally, Huperzine A enhances overall cognitive function because it is water-soluble and can easily cross the blood-brain barrier. Once in the brain, it is rapidly transported throughout the brain’s various regions. (14, 15)

Alfabin (Rauwolfia vomitoria) – 1mg

Alfabin® is another branded ingredient. This is a purified extract that is derived from the root of Rauwolfia vomitoria (which is also known as African snakeroot). It is standardized to contain 98% rauwolscine (better known as alpha-yohimbine). This has become a common and popular stimulant used in many pre-workouts.

Finally, Rauwolscine is thought to block alpha-2 adrenergic receptors, which are the receptors that block fat mobilization. This in turn promotes fat loss, especially in those “hard to lose” areas of the body. (16)

How Do I Use It?

SuperHuman Extreme is a high-stim pre-workout, with a stim complex that goes beyond just a high dose of caffeine. Therefore, unless you are an advanced user with experience using high-stim pre’s, I recommend you determine your tolerance to this powerful pre-workout by starting with 1/2 serving (1/2 scoop) mixed in 6 ounces of water.

Once you have determined your  tolerance you can move up to a full scoop mixed with 8-10 ounces of water. In addition, do not use SuperHuman Extreme near bedtime. The label suggests not using it within 4 hours of going to bed, but with a Pre this strong, I would advise at least 6 hours, and if possible, 8 might be better.

Stack Suggestions

Here are some Stack suggestions that center around Alpha Lion SuperHuman Extreme.

Stack # 1

  • Alpha Lion SuperHuman Extreme
  • NutraBio Unbound Series Bloodline – Earlier I mentioned that some users may want more pump ingredients. Here’s an Extreme Pump Matrix that you can mix with SuperHuman Extreme for absolutely mind-numbing pumps!
  • Hi-Tech Precision Protein – A great protein powder is a “must-have” supplement, and this one stands above everybody else. Why” For starters, one scoop of this exceptional powder provides 25 grams of hydrolyzed whey protein. But what really sets this powder apart is its exclusive Hi-Tech Pharma technology that allows the BCAA/EAA leucine to be released in the early stages of protein synthesis.
  • Myogenix Myo Vite – It’s important to take care of  your basic nutritional needs with a good multi. I know a multi isn’t “flashy”, but it is a key to optimal results. Here’s a comprehensive multi formula that has a total of 8 nutrient complexes. Take the time to check it out, you might be surprised at all it has to offer.
  • NutraBio EEA Pure – Here’s a great EAA formula with hydration and absorption ingredients. Of course, it features unbeatable NutraBio quality and transparency. I advise using it as part of your pre-workout regimen or as an intra-workout to help keep your body in a state of positive protein balance while you train.

Stack # 2

All of the above but add these supplements:

  • Competitive Edge Labs MPC-185 – This is a clinically backed turbocharged version of leucine that dramatically promotes protein synthesis.
  • Hi-Tech Andriol – Here’s a mild prohormone that’s strong enough to pack on lean mass yet does not need to be cycled. You can use it as long as you want. Use it with Hi-Tech Arimistane, a PCT formula that primarily blocks estrogen and cortisol. Take on-cycle or when you decide to stop using Andriol.
