Variations
- Feel free to replace the Fairlife milk with the milk alternative of your choice. I chose this milk because it’s low in sugar and higher in protein than regular milk. Remember, if you switch to, say, almond milk, your macronutrient profile will change.
- As with the milk, feel free to replace the Breyer’s ice cream with the ice cream or frozen yogurt of your choice. Again, I chose Breyer’s because it’s low in sugar.
- As noted, if you can’t find Richard’s peanut butter, look for one that’s low in sugar and sodium. Most brands carry an all-natural option.
- While this is a thick shake, it’s not quite as thick as what you’ll find in most ice cream shops. If you like it so thick you’ll need a spoon, you can either add another scoop of protein powder or more ice cream to make it as thick as you prefer.
Supplement Suggestions
Of course, nutrition and supplements go hand in hand because supplements support your nutrition. In the case of this Chocolate Peanut Butter Milkshake recipe, you’re already using a good protein powder. PEScience Select provides a blend of fast-digesting whey and slow-digesting casein protein. As good of a combo as that is, you may choose to use a plant protein powder, such as PEScience Vegan Series Select Protein (peanut butter delight!), which supplies 20 grams of protein from pea and brown rice.
Don’t forget about your other supplements, which should include a pre-workout, creatine, and a multi. It’s important to make sure you have your cornerstone supplement stack stocked up and ready to go. I know that, for me, I don’t want to train without these products.
