Who Is 5% Nutrition?

5% Nutrition was founded by bodybuilder and businessman Rich Piana. He ran the company up until his untimely and tragic passing in 2017. Currently, it is still being successfully run by several individuals that truly understood Rich and what he demanded of his business. These individuals understand the supplement business. 5% Nutrition has carried on making the kind of supplements Rich would be proud of. They carry a complete line of supplements and various accessories that include apparel, shakers, and other necessities.

Who Was Rich Piana?

As mentioned, Rich had specific beliefs. One of these was his view of “5%”. The other was his outspoken, honest, and motivating style. He told it like it was, and he didn’t mince words. Rich was honest about his bodybuilding philosophy and steroid use. Also, he was adamant that real food always came first, and supplements (even his own) came second.

Rich did not compromise. His “functional foods” products were whole-food sourced. There are now several protein products in the 5% line-up. They are true to Rich and his beliefs. He was not fond of whey protein powder. That’s why you will find all current 5% protein supplements use real food sources of protein. One product, the classic Egg White Crystals, can be used just like real eggs.

Rich was also famous for his no-BS videos. There were several. It should also be said that he was a very successful entrepreneur. He did well in the stock market and he successfully invested in real estate. He did quite a few commercials and had several acting roles. Of course, he founded 5% Nutrition and made it a successful company. (1, 2)

It’s interesting to note that while he competed in and won numerous bodybuilding contests, he was not a pro. Yet his popularity rivaled that of many pros.

Let’s Look At The Ingredients!

L-Citrulline – 8,000 mg

Citrulline is a proteinogenic amino acid that, once it’s in the body, is converted to arginine, another amino acid. Among other benefits, arginine stimulates the body’s production of nitric oxide. The problem with arginine is that it is not absorbed very well. This is where citrulline enters the picture. Citrulline bypasses digestion and goes right into the bloodstream which means it performs arginine’s job better than arginine. (1, 2)

L-Taurine – 2,000 mg

Taurine is also an amino acid, but it is not involved in the creation of protein. However, it has become a popular energy drink ingredient because of its cognitive benefits. It’s also an osmolyte, which means it pulls water into your muscles, making it a potent cell volumizer. (3)

GlycerSize™ 65% Glycerol Powder – 2,000 mg

Here’s an exciting newer ingredient that has made quite a name for itself in the supplement market. That’s because it’s an ultra-effective osmolyte. Besides its cell volume benefits, it also hyper-hydrates the muscles and can significantly extend endurance. I’ve experienced this myself, but results will vary for everybody. Full AF uses a patented version of glycerol – GlycerSize™. One of the things that sets GlycerSize apart from generic glycerol is that it uses a special spray drying process designed to improve stability. (4)

Betaine Anhydrous – 2,000 mg

No doubt you’ve heard of this ingredient, most likely because it has been compared to creatine. So what is it? Betaine is three methyl groups attached to glycine, an amino acid. What does betaine do? It’s an osmolyte, which in this case means it works together with taurine and glycerol to create massive water-based pumps. In addition, it promotes strength and power, and it is believed to be involved in stimulating protein synthesis, much like creatine. (5)

Nitrosigine® – 750 mg

This nitric oxide booster is a patented ingredient that consists of arginine, potassium silicate, and inositol. It works synergistically with citrulline to create huge nitric oxide pumps. The thing about Nitrosigine is that it extends your pump up to an amazing 6 hours! Plus, it goes to work within only 30 minutes of taking your dose. Fantastic! (6)

How Do I Use It

To use 5% Nutrition Full AF, mix one scoop (one serving) with 8-12 ounces of water and consume 30 minutes before training. You can mix it with a pre-workout, and you can add in creatine (see below).

Mass Stack # 2

As above, but make the following changes.

  • Replace 5150 with NutraBio Base – A balanced but streamlined formula at a value price that features flexible dosing.

Add:
